Covid Secure Accommodation
Now that we have reached Step 4 of lockdown easing, most government restrictions are no longer in place, however we are maintaining a number of measures to minimise the risk of transmission of the virus and give you a safe and comfortable stay.
Occupancy
We've limited the total occupancy of the hostel to 75% of our usual maximum, to ensure there is plenty of space for everyone. We're also limiting the room occupancy in rooms of more than 8 beds to 50% of the room capacity.
Hygiene & Cleanliness
We will continue with our enhanced cleaning routines to keep everything sparkling clean and hygienic. Hand sanitiser is provided throughout the building and anti bacterial hand soap is provided in bedrooms and toilets.
Your accommodation will have been thoroughly cleaned and well ventilated before your arrival, which is why we are keeping our later 3.00pm check in time, to give us the time we need to clean the hostel properly.
Please let us know if anything needs additional attention.
Face Coverings
Please wear a face covering in all public areas of the hostel, except when eating or drinking.
During Your Stay
Hostel staff will not enter your room during your stay.
Please maintain social distancing in order to give yourself and other guests the space they need.
Ventilation
Derwentwater Independent Hostel is a large spacious and well ventilated building. We'll keep exterior doors and windows open, where practical, to ensure everywhere is well ventilated.
Self Catering Kitchen
The self catering kitchen is open and available for use. We have identified the self catering kitchen as a place which could potentially become overcrowded, so have retained the following measures to control its use:
- A maximum of two people will be able to use the cooking area at any one time.
- We'll ask you to cook alone for your household, in order to allow space for someone else to cook.
- You'll be able to use the tables in the self catering kitchen in your household groups, although we've reduced the number of tables.
- We'll keep the kitchen well ventilated with the windows open and the extraction on at all time.
- The kitchen will be deep cleaned daily, and there will be additional cleaning and sanitisation throughout the day.
On Departure
We're asking guests to strip beds and leave bedding in a single pile in the room, and to leave bedroom windows wide open.
