It is not just our guests who find inspiration in Barrow House and the Lake District environment. From exotic baking to fell running, climbing, crochet, and bird watching, our friendly staff members have a wide range of interests. Everyone loves making the most of our stunning location and wildlife-rich grounds: even the nettles have made it into some delicious home brewing experiments. Every day is full of mini adventures, whether they are mind-twisting forays into the heart of a cryptic crossword, or a peak-topping hike on the Lake District fells. Our senior assistant has even managed to scale every one of the 214 Wainwright Fells, using her afternoon breaks and days off. Thank goodness we have so many gorgeous home-made cakes to keep our energy levels up.
